Welcome to the Integrated Waste Management Division (IWMD)! IWMD performs numerous important functions related to waste reduction, recycling, and solid waste management on behalf of the County of Ventura.

Residential Services

  • Manage solid waste agreements with Athens Services and EJ Harrison & Sons for the collection of all residential trash, recycling, and organics in the unincorporated County.
  • Spring 2024 Residential Satisfaction Survey Results
  • Administer a permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center and mobile events for unincorporated County, Ojai, Fillmore, and Santa Paula residents.

Commercial Services

  • Manage solid waste agreements with seven (7) contract collectors for the collection of commercial trash, recycling, and organics in the unincorporated County.
  • Administer a Business Recycling Assistance Program for unincorporated County businesses.
  • Administer a Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) program for the proper disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Supports unincorporated County schools with in-person environmental services and free resources.
  • Administer SB1383 commercial waivers and self-haul certifications.

Regional Programs

  • Oversee the Recycling Market Development Zone on behalf of the County and ten (10) cities.
  • Administer the Regional Edible Food Recovery Program on behalf of the County and eight (8) cities.

Reporting, Grants, and Special Programs

  • Submits annual reports to CalRecycle
  • Prepare organic and edible food recovery capacity studies. 2024 Ventura County Edible Food Recovery Capacity Study.
  • Administer recycling grants from the state
  • Administer the Construction and Demolition Debris Recycling Program
  • Implement the Disaster Debris Management Plan for the County of Ventura
