Ventura County’s Water Distribution Supervisor, Samuel Gonzalez, was honored for his excellence in the field
Held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, the Association of Water Agencies of Ventura County (AWA) surprised Samuel Gonzalez with the prestigious “Frontline Utility Worker” award to recognize his critical role in much of the success that Ventura County Public Works Agency (VCPWA), Water and Sanitation department has experienced during his tenure.
Recently promoted to VCPWA’s Water Distribution Supervisor for the County of Ventura, Gonzalez has had an active role leading crews on the front lines of the responses to the Woolsey, Easy, and Maria fires. He also has led teams in the emergency repairs of a transmission line that supplies hundreds of customers in Lake Sherwood and a large sewer line in Moorpark, which involved emergency railroad training and had sensitive environmental challenges.
VCPWA’s Water and Sanitation department has exceeded three years without a lost workday accident under Gonzalez’ safety leadership, and his skills in equipment operation have become huge assets to the team as well. His expertise, positive attitude, hard-work, and commitment to making sure Ventura County residents always have access to safe drinking water have all led to him being selected as the recipient of this award.
